Rent-a-Goalie is a half-hour comedy television series from Canada that aired on Showcase from 2006 - 2008. Its third season premiered 20 October 2008. The first season was nominated for three Gemini Awards, including Best Comedy Series. It was also nominated for a Directors Guild of Canada Award, the CFTPA Indie Award for Best Comedy Series, an ACTRA Award for Best Male Performance for Christopher Bolton, and four Canadian Comedy Awards, winning two. The second season was nominated for six Gemini Awards, including Best Comedy Series, Best Ensemble Performance, Best Directing, Best Writing, Best Cinematography and Best Casting. It has also been nominated for three Canadian Comedy Awards.

When Cake's old enemy O'Malley registers the business name 'Cake's Rent-a-Goalie' and steals Lance "The Boil," a war ensues which can only be settled on the rink.

Old habits die hard when Cake's old flame Malta comes to town. The girl with game jeopardizes his standing with his own stable of goalies as well as with Johnny and Francesca and even with Phil Esposito.

As passion heats up between Cake and Francesca, a mysterious testicular infection spreads among the Goalies, threatening Cake's delicate truce with O'Malley.

O'Malley (Oliver Becker) wages war on Cake (Christopher Bolton) after Bontar (James McGowan) burns down his beloved gazebo.

Cake (Christopher Bolton) goes toe-to-toe with Tie Domi when Short Bus (Jeremy Wright) gravely offends the former NHL star.

4. Burlington

Cake (Christopher Bolton) and Doc (Matt Gordon) head to Burlington to rescue Billy (Stephen Amell) and then race back home to save Café Primo from the hands of the Esposito brothers.

An old nemesis of Johnny shows up at Cafe Primo and a family secret emerges that threatens the very existence of the cafe.

6. He Man

Fearing he may be losing respect and control of the goalies to an adventure writer, Cake resolves to prove his manliness.

7. Ham in a Pram

Air Date: 2008-12-01

Cake is intimate with Malta with the understanding that there is no consequences to be worried about afterwards. However, Cake quickly learns that there are repercussions after all.

8. Shite Storm

Air Date: 2008-12-08

Fran and Cake wind up becoming intimate with each other one night but the aftermath threatens the very existence of Cafe Primo itself.
