The Power Game

The Power Game is an ITV drama spin-off from The Plane Makers (1963–65), created by Wilfred Greatorex. Broadcast for three 13-episode series, Patrick Wymark reprised his role as Sir John Wilder, who here ruthlessly pursues boardroom machinations and tangled relationships.

Sir John Wilder has made his wealth and gained a hard reputation, but he's bored. He lands a position as joint manager of Blythe Constructions, a huge construction firm, with big finances.

2. Lady for a Knight

Now installed at Bligh Constructions, Wilder faces a new challenge, both he and Caswell find themselves members of The National Export Board, a Government directive, with a possible clash of interest, one needs to go.

3. Hagadan

Wilder travels to Italy to meet Frank Hagadan, who's responsible for building their motorways. Hagadan is taken with Pamela, just as Wilder with Susan Weldon.

4. The Politician

Air Date: 1966-01-03

When the labour MP from Fairley dies, Caswell spots an opportunity to get into the Cabinet. He aims to land the support on the topic of traffic, but not everyone is keen to have a champagne socialist as their candidate.

5. Point of Balance

Caswell puts the pieces together, deducing that Wilder is having an affair with Susan Weldon. He puts a quiet word in the right place, in the hope that it will damage his troublesome colleague.
