Paolo has lost Laura's phone number and desperately searches for a way to find it, while she disconsolately awaits his call. Fortunately, her colleagues from "Tu Donna" step in to resolve the situation. But will the magic of their first meeting help them come to terms with the discovery that they are each other's hated neighbors?

After discovering they're neighbors, Paolo and Laura, advised against it by their best friends, decide not to continue dating. The situation is exacerbated by Emanuele and Cristina's constant clashes at school, which even end in front of the principal. Attempts at apology and reconciliation seem to fail miserably, and Laura ends up accepting a dinner invitation from Sergio, Nina's teacher. Paolo and Laura have been secretly seeing each other for ten days, but they still haven't managed to make love. Both would like to, but, confused by Monica and Michele's well-meaning advice, they're afraid to take the initiative, and when they finally decide, they can't find the right place.

Paolo and Laura are now a steady couple, even though they continue to hide from their children, piling up excuses and lies. However, Cristina accidentally catches a glimpse of her father kissing his neighbor and is shocked, so much so that she tells Emanuele, who begins to investigate. To improve the situation on the landing, Laura decides to organize a dinner with Paolo's family, but things don't go exactly as hoped: Emanuele extends the invitation to his grandparents, the sweet Mario and the cruel Clelia, and Cristina invites her elderly aunts Filomena and Sofia. Laura herself also expands the number of guests, inviting Monica and her sister Stefania, a woman sui generis, and Paolo, who brings his friend Michele. With all this confusion, the dinner turns out to be a complete fiasco.

Laura and Paolo finally manage to sleep together for the first time, but Emanuele and Cristina do everything they can to complicate the situation. Cristina, gripped by a fit of intense jealousy, begins to see the ghost of her neighbor's wife. Paolo, too, must confront a ghost from his past: Laura's ex-husband, Riccardo Balestrieri, a successful writer, is returning to Rome for Christmas and will be staying at the Del Fiore house. Laura's reassurances are useless; her new man doesn't seem to like it.

Christmas is approaching, and Paolo suggests spending it with Laura, but Riccardo's arrival has thrown all her plans into disarray, especially since Riccardo is planning a little chat with Emanuele on December 25th. Emanuele is increasingly in crisis and is starting to have problems at school. Clelia suggests a psychologist, but Paolo advises Laura to be patient. After a day in the countryside with Grandpa Mario, things seem to have settled down, but the next day, Emanuele secretly waits for Peter, Riccardo's boyfriend, hits him on the head with his helmet, and runs away. Peter is rushed to the hospital, while Emanuele disappears without a trace. Paolo also disappears, for just one night, and it's all because of Natascia, who, faking a car breakdown, locks him in a country farmhouse for yet another futile attempt at seduction.

Locked in the newsroom bathroom for yet another pregnancy test, Monica becomes suspicious, and it doesn't take long to realize the result is positive. And they don't even know how they'll take the news of the pregnancy. Between Laura's nightmares and Paolo's obstacles, neither of them can talk to Cristina or Emanuele, but time is running out and the baby bump is growing.

Paolo, Laura, and the kids begin to experience the joys and challenges of their new life together as one extended family. Meanwhile, Giulio and Stefania plan their surprise wedding, and Paolo's aunts, after discovering their terrible cooking, decide to take a cooking class. Cristina can't believe that Davide Palmieri, the most handsome boy in school, has fallen in love with her, and tries to keep her relationship a secret from Paolo, fearing his overprotective father's reaction. When Paolo discovers the two outside his house, however, he responds in a completely unexpected way.
9. ...and meanwhile time goes by / Damned spring

The occupation is now in Emanuele's hands, and he's becoming a point of reference for the entire school: a unique opportunity to assert his identity among his classmates after years of anonymity. For Cristina, however, the occupation is offering another opportunity: to sleep a night with Davide. And to make love with him for the first time. To have more time with her Davide, Cristina asks Emanuele to extend the occupation by a day. Monica is overjoyed with her relationship with Ermanno and would like to arrange a threesome with Michele to thank him for arranging the meeting. Laura must confront a terrible reality: she has lost her baby, while Paolo, desperate, doesn't know how to console her. Laura is in crisis, and Paolo seems oblivious, continuing his life as if they hadn't lost their baby. When she explodes in front of her partner and the gynecologist, the two begin a furious argument in which Laura blames Paolo for what happened. Their relationship seems to have reached its end, as does that between Cristina and Davide. Just as a damp patch spreads in the Del Fiore-Giorgi household, looming over everyone's heads, the crisis between Paolo and Laura worsens, shattering their relationship. The only solution the two can find is to rebuild the broken wall and each return to their own apartments.
12. When a love ends / I will marry you because

Paolo and Laura return to living in separate homes. Cristina is in Rome and Davide is in Athens. Cristina, Emanuele, and Nina are no longer siblings, and Michele and Monica are separated: nothing is going as it should. And Paolo only makes the situation worse. Laura hates Paolo because she's convinced he cheated on her with Natasha and does everything she can to avoid meeting him. Regretting what happened, Giorgi finally realizes his feelings and decides to ask Laura to marry him. Meanwhile, Del Fiore and Riccardo spend a night of passion, unaware of Peter, Paolo's American partner.

As wedding preparations are underway, Laura is very nervous: should she reveal to Paolo that she cheated on him with Riccardo? When the woman breaks out in front of her partner and the gynecologist, the two start a furious argument in which Laura blames Paolo for what happened. Just as in the Del Fiore-Giorgi house a damp spot expands, looming over everyone's heads, so the crisis between Paolo and Laura worsens, shattering their relationship. The only solution the two can find is to raise the demolished wall and each return to their own apartment.

Paolo and Laura go back to living in two different houses, Cristina is in Rome and Davide is in Athens, Cristina, Emanuele and Nina are no longer siblings, Michele and Monica are divided: nothing goes as it should. And Paul only makes the situation worse.

Laura hates Paolo because she is convinced that he cheated on him with Natascia and does everything possible not to meet him. While the preparations for the wedding are in full swing, Laura is very agitated: should she or shouldn't she reveal to Paolo that she has cheated on him with Riccardo? The two couples, planning a romantic wedding for two, are gripped by anxiety and stress: Laura hopes this second chance, in the company of her best friend Monica, will go better. Meanwhile, Cristina and Emanuele are back at school. The big day has arrived: Monica and Laura are preparing for the wedding, unaware that their future husbands are still asleep. A phone call from the two brides will wake them, and they, panicked, will try to arrive in time for the celebration. Giulio and Stefania, the best men, are also getting ready, but an emergency disrupts their plans.
2. Bye bye baby / What will remain (of these 80s)?

Monica can't accept Michele's death and learns that he, too, wanted to have a child with her. Paolo, however, to avoid thinking about the loss of his best friend, works hard, with Adriano's help, to organize the perfect funeral. Meanwhile, Stefania has given birth to her twins, Rebecca and Rachele. Lea and Ermanno spend the night together, and for Lea, the event must remain a secret. Meanwhile, Cristina signs up for a kickboxing class where she meets Raoul, a very handsome boy, who turns out to be her teacher. Laura's success spreads quickly thanks to a flattering newspaper article, but the editorial staff aren't as enthusiastic about her friend's book. Maya, Rosa, and Lea recognize themselves in Laura's portraits of women in her book and have no intention of forgiving their friend for being publicly exposed. Laura tries to clarify things with her friends, but fails to achieve anything. Monica and Adriano's relationship is flourishing: the awkward ornithologist manages to fulfill the expectant mother's every wish, but from Heaven, Michele is distraught over the choices of his loved ones.

Stefania has disappeared. Giulio finds himself alone to care for the twins while Laura and Paolo try everything they can to find her. Paolo, meanwhile, also swept up in Valeria's enthusiasm, decides to throw himself into the nursery adventure, though he first wants to discuss it with Laura, who, however, is too preoccupied with her sister's disappearance. Stefania, unable to stay away from the girls, sneaks home, but is caught by Giulio, who decides to put her to the test. Paolo, meanwhile, finds himself having to deal with Laura's constant professional successes, which, while helping the family budget, also exposes him to some worries.
5. Tell me when / If I'm here tonight

When Laura returns from her business trip, she finds no one at home to welcome her. The newly minted writer realizes she may be neglecting her family and decides to put her career aside to devote more time to her children and Paolo, but Clelia warns her that some opportunities only come once in a lifetime. Laura must leave again to meet with a French publisher and doesn't know how to tell Paolo, who, meanwhile, is having serious trouble with his nursery. His partner, partly out of guilt and partly to show him her support, decides to invest part of the book's proceeds in the tranquility of a greenhouse. Michele appears to Monica in a dream and reveals that a man is about to enter her life.
6. The distance / Innocent escapes

Laura leaves for Sorrento without clearing things up with Paolo, who is increasingly jealous of the publisher's relationship with his partner. Both, hoping for the other's call, wait for the situation to resolve. Despite this magical moment in her career, Laura is sad and constantly thinks of Paolo, from whom she expected greater support at such a delicate moment in her life. Paolo dreams of Laura and Marco, overcome by passion, but then finds himself in Michele's "office," where he reassures him about his partner's behavior. Laura, over the phone, is unable to confess to her partner about the evening spent with her publisher. Giulio tries to win Yang's affection by giving him gifts, but it is Clelia who restores the balance between the two.

Christmas is just around the corner, and Monica, intent on instilling the holiday spirit in her son, entrusts her brother-in-law with preparing the Christmas dinner at their house. After speaking with Monica, Adriano confides in Paolo, who advises him to take his mind off things and think of someone else. The family is all busy with New Year's Eve, but Cristina has no desire to celebrate. Laura suggests Paolo invite Valeria and Gianluca to the party Clelia is throwing. Meanwhile, from Heaven, Michele is moved when he hears his brother confide in Paolo about his decision to recognize his son. Emanuele has lost his mind and can't come to terms with Viola's abandonment, which leads him to even neglect his studies.
12. Between you and the sea / The best years of our lives

Paolo leaves home and moves into a new apartment while he waits for things to settle down. However, the separation doesn't help the couple, and both think about the times they spent together. Emanuele is in a deep crisis. Viola opens up about his situation, and he confesses that he'll never find a boy who loves her as much as he did. The day of the final exams arrives. Cristina and Martina use every available cheating technique, while Emanuele is tormented by his thoughts. Viola had decided to reveal her love to the boy, but Cristina dissuades her so as not to disrupt the exams. Meanwhile, the exam questions aren't what their aunts had predicted, and the whole class panics.
13. When two people leave each other / Love is in the air

After shutting Viola out of his thoughts, Emanuele has thrown himself into studying and prepared a 1,400-page thesis aimed at impressing Ugolino. Meanwhile, Paolo feels like a failure and tells Cristina they'll soon find a new house to move into. Paolo doesn't have the courage to tell Laura he doesn't want her to leave. Laura, too, is eagerly awaiting these words, but neither of them can bring themselves to tell the other. Emanuele and Cristina, still struggling with their final exams, must deal with an unknown and very mean professor.

Everyone in the family is busy for New Year's Eve, but Cristina has no desire to celebrate. Laura proposes to Paolo to invite Valeria and Gianluca to the party organized by Clelia. Mario, in the grip of jealousy, asks his wife for an explanation about her association with the man unknown to him and she confesses to him that it is a past love affair.

Laura wants to put boundaries between her and Paolo and labels everything in the house to underline their separation. Even her friends encourage the tension strategy that the writer is carrying out, while Paolo gets angry. Cristina flies into a rage when Paolo asks her to end her relationship with Raoul. Laura is worried and tries to understand with her friends what the nature of her partner's illness is and, for this reason, she goes to find Valeria. The day of graduation arrives. Cristina and Martina use all the existing copying techniques while Emanuele is tormented by thoughts. Viola had decided to reveal her love to her boyfriend but Cristina dissuades her so as not to disturb the exams. Meanwhile, the tracks are not those expected by the aunts and the whole class panics.

Paolo and Laura have secretly rented an apartment in the same building where they live with their family, a place to escape from their children and the chaos of the house where their aunts also moved in a few months ago. And it's there that the two meet to celebrate a very special occasion. After being discovered in the secret apartment, Paolo and Laura must face the entire family, envious of their love nest. Meanwhile, the man continues to receive text messages from the doctor's office to collect the results of some tests. Annoyed by the number of messages, Paolo decides to call the doctor and discovers that he needs to be examined as soon as possible.

The news of Paolo's illness has devastated him. He acts as if he has only a short time to live, becomes overly sentimental, and begins to take care of the house: he tidies up Cristina's room, repairs appliances that had been broken for ages, and even gives up the nursery to Capone, Valentini, and Merloni. Jealous of his daughter's romantic relationship, Paolo decides to write a fake eviction letter to get Cristina back, but then reconsiders. Martina, through Valentini, accidentally comes across the letter and discusses it with Cristina, who forces her father to justify himself to everyone.
