Stories in this series tend to give more focus to Batman's supporting cast, which include fellow crimefighters Robin, Nightwing, and Batgirl, among others. The show also features guest stars such as Supergirl, Etrigan, and The Creeper.

One story is reminiscent of the Dick Sprang era comics from the 1950s and/or the 1960s live-action Batman television series. Another is reminiscent of Frank Miller's 1986 graphic novel The Dark Knight Returns.

Livewire escapes during a prison transfer and runs amok in Gotham, joining forces with Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn. With the Dark Knight away, Batgirl teams up with Supergirl to face the deadly trio.
