Romany Jones is a British sitcom made by LWT, It starred Arthur Mullard and Queenie Watts as Wally and Lily Briggs and was broadcast between 1973 and 1975, The show was originally designed as a vehicle for James Beck, involving the comic misadventures of two layabout families living on a caravan site. Following the death of Beck in August 1973, aged just 44, Bert and Betty Jones were written out of the series, and Jonathan Cecil and Gay Soper took over the lead roles, playing new neighbours, Jeremy and Susan Crichton-Jones. The show had a pilot broadcast in 1972 and was followed by a spin off sequel in 1976 entitled Yus, My Dear, starring Mullard and Watts.

4. The Dinner

A potential employer invites Jeremy and Susan for dinner, Jeremy sees this as an opportunity to move up in life, trading the caravan for a house. Susan then returns the compliment which leads to a memorable evening.

5. Love Is All

Susan looks to stimulate her and Jeremy's love life, but has second thoughts when the Briggs have similar plans.

6. She Loves Me, That Bird

A troublesome chicken causes a nightly disturbance in the caravan park.

A batch of stolen eggs find their way to Lily and Wally, bringing along with them a lot of trouble.

Jeremy agrees to look after his Managing Directors dog over the weekend, bringing more stress for Susan.

The caravan park sees heavy snowfall, which cuts them off from the outside world. As supplies dwindle the Crichton Jones and Briggs form an uneasy alliance.

3. The Learner Driver

Jeremy asks Wally if he can use the car, to have Susan drop him off and pick him up from the station. Jeremy offers to pay some of the running expenses for the car which Wally agrees to. However, there is a small issue with the plan.

4. A Good Layer

Jeremy decides that they should keep a hen so he can have a breakfast egg. Wally and Lily oblige and find Jeremy a hen, however the hen is rather old and well past her prime.

5. The Washing

Tempers fray over the use of the communal clothesline.

6. The Night Out

Air Date: 1975-07-11

Susan and Lily have put their differences aside and decide to get their hair done together, for some special occassions. Susan will be acompanying Jeremy to a work dinner and Wally is taking Lily out to a ball at the local.
